Samsung to invest more than $1 billion in chip production
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Tuesday it wanted to contribute more than $1 billion before the end of June 2017 to support creation of framework chips at its Austin, Texas, offices in the United States to take care of developing demand. The South Korean firm, the world's second-biggest chipmaker behind Intel Corp, said in an announcement its speculation would help yield of chips for portable and different gadgets from its current offices in the city. The speculation comes after Samsung said a week ago its capital use for 2016 would ascend to a record 27 trillion won ($24 billion), with 13.2 trillion won reserved for its semiconductor business.
